Children love these ‘create with nature’ educational programs
Our fun, immersive incursions are held in the outdoors using all natural materials and stimulate children’s enquiry, creativity, nature awareness and physical activity. Perfect for vacation care activities for OSHC services.
Programs we offer
Nature's Rainbow
Botanical Art Installation
Children learn about the wide array of colours, shapes and textures found in Mother Nature through design challenges and games. Working collaboratively or individually, children make beautiful art installations comprised of bark, berries, leaves, seed pods, branches, pebbles, and the like. Plant materials are supplied and where possible gathered from the school grounds. The art installations can be left in place as a gallery to inspire others.
Pick Up Sticks
Through a series of fun exercises, this program challenges children to ‘engineer’ an original structure, using just bare hands and nature’s gifts of sticks, twigs and bark. This activity often continues after the program is over as the structures get added to, fall over, get rebuilt or evolve into a miniature village!
Chasing Shadows
The Art of Light and Shade
In this evocative exploration into the patterns cast by the sun’s shadows, children learn about solar movement, and the flora around them. Extending their visual arts skills, children work in pairs to trace nature’s cast shapes directly onto scrolls of paper with wax crayons. Once complete, the drawings make a striking installation of hanging drawings for all to enjoy. This program needs a sunny day!
Butterfly Beautiful
Floral Collage
Children explore about the life-cycle of the butterfly and learn about nature’s astonishing art palette through design exercises exploring symmetry, tone, texture, shape and colour. This sets the foundation for designing and making butterfly pictures comprised of colourful botanical materials. Children work in pairs learning the art of collaboration and their creations become an outdoor gallery to inspire others.
